A Message from the Principal

WYANDOTTE FOREVER!!

Wyandotte High School is a school of both pride and tradition! Alumni from this great school can be found in all parts of the world! Tens of thousands of students have graduated from Wyandotte High School, each with his/her own story and accomplishments. We take pride in the many graduates who have made a major contribution to our global world, our great nation, the state of Kansas, the local community, their own families, and every graduate who has impacted the life of even just one other human being.

Our present building was completed in 1937 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The two towers that enhance our building symbolize character and the pursuit of knowledge, two values we hold as the foundation of our work at Wyandotte High School. Our current student population represents rich cultural diversity from dozens of countries across the world. Such diversity comes together and strengthens our academic and extracurricular programs as we focus on excellence.

Our mission at Wyandotte is to educate, empower, and encourage all learners, that they may create a better tomorrow for themselves and our community. Our goal is to prepare students for the rigorous demands of the college experience. The quality of each student’s life will be determined by the quality of his or her education during AND AFTER high school.

To meet the rigorous academic expectations, Wyandotte High School is structured into seven Small Learning Communities (SLCs). It is in the SLC that relationships are strengthened and advocacy for students and families is a priority. Each of the seven small learning communities has a specific focus - business, health careers/life sciences, hospitality, global technology and engineering, performing arts, foundation in applied skills and technology, and visual arts and technology - each catering to the uniqueness of the individual student’s dreams for the future.

Our attention is on personalized learning for all our students. Each SLC has eight to 10 teachers, who stay with the students for their four years at Wyandotte, allowing them to develop strong bonds. This student-centered approach creates a partnership in learning with the student and teacher that results in students achieving more than they themselves thought possible.

Students, staff, parents, alumni and community members are a part of our Wyandotte High School team! We thrive on our passion for success and hope you will join us to help all students create the quality of life they desire and deserve.
